| Goal: Collaborate with business, nonprofit, and government partners to protect people and property
- PLP partners with businesses and other organizations to "partner" to volunteer, donate, and/or discount materials for all projects. PLP will continue to collaborate with a broad spectrum of partners to develop and implement ongoing education programs and safety projects in hazard-prone regions.
- PLP trains volunteers to conduct "hands-on" safety demonstration projects. Trained volunteers are encouraged to apply learned skills to homes and businesses to make the whole community safer from diasters.
Accomplishments:
- 2007 Partners in Innovation award presented by the Oregon Emergency Management Association.
- 2005 Non-Profit Leader in Natural Hazard Risk Reduction presented by Partners for Disaster Resistance & Resilience: Oregon Showcase State Initiative.

|
| Goal: Develop safety education materials designed to teach people when, where, and how to protect themseleves before and during a disaster.
- PLP organized a steering committee to develop age-appropriate earthquake training materials. The committee consisted of early childhood educators, Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children, Oregon Association of Child Care Directors, State of Oregon Child Care Division state-certifiers, American Red Cross, and State Farm Insurance. The materials were widely peer-reviewed and pilot-tested in other states.
- 1,265 state-certified child care providers statewide, with the capacity to serve 56,352 pre- and early-school age children in Oregon, now have the tools to save lives while teaching young children how to protect themselves during an earthquake or other disaster. Long-term thousands more will benefit from PLP's award-winning Preschool Safety Program.
Accomplishments:
- Oregon becomes first in the nation to have distributed a comprehensive age-appropriate disaster curriculum to all Oregon state-certified child care providers.
